Otello: March 31 - April 7, 2007

Otello
Opera Lyra Ottawa
National Art Centre, Ottawa

March 31 - April 7, 2007
Jealousy, ambition and hate are the dark forces at play in Otello, Verdi's gripping masterpiece. This emotionally charged opera recounts the infamous tale of Otello, the Venetian army's heroic Moorish General who loses his honour and his mind when he succumbs to the wicked, duplicitous schemes of Iago, one of history's most depraved villains. Iago displays both brilliance and brutality as he ensnares Desdemona, Otello's fair and devoted wife, into his calculated quest to exact vengeance upon the man he believes has robbed him of military glory and might. Sung in Italian, with English and French Surtitles
